Recent actions will make former ESPN broadcaster Steve Phillips a tough hire, network executive says

"Would you hire Steve Phillips?" Bob Raissman recently asked a network sports television executive in a position to do just that. Phillips, former general manager of the New York Mets, was fired late last month from his baseball analyst position at ESPN after reports of an affair with an ESPN production assistant. The executive tells Raissman that hiring Phillips is riskier than hiring someone returning from substance abuse. "This is tough," the executive says. "You have to consider all the women working at the network. Someone with Steve’s issues could be putting the company at risk. Now you’re talking about potential lawsuits and potentially millions of dollars on the line."
