Berman a bit of a bust on baseball

In general, Pete Dougherty likes Chris Berman. That feeling does not extend to the ESPN broadcaster’s ability on baseball. "I love the enthusiasm he brings to the set on the NFL coverage and the fact that his personality doesn’t change whether he’s on or off the air," Dougherty writes. "That said, I would prefer ‘Boomer’ not do baseball, particularly on radio." Dougherty listened to Berman and Rick Sutcliffe on Wednesday’s National League Division Series game between Colorado and Philadelphia. "He seemed more intent on engaging Sutcliffe in conversation, which works on TV but not radio," Dougherty writes. "Berman’s style works fine in the NFL studio, and he has a Grade A radio voice, but in the postseason especially we should be hearing experienced baseball broadcasters. Berman is not, and it shows."
