Luring columnist Rick Morrissey from Chicago Tribune gives Sun-Times “a major sense of satisfaction”

"When Rick Morrissey gave a big thumbs up to the Chicago Sun-Times on Friday, there was a major sense of satisfaction," Sun-Times sports editor Chris DeLuca writes of Morrissey’s jump from the rival Chicago Tribune. "We are getting one of the brightest, toughest and funniest sports columnists in the country. Morrissey can work the locker room like a beat reporter and write a column like a poet. And he’s a Chicago guy. . . . This is the dawn of a new era for the Sun-Times and its sports staff." Morrissey says of Chicago, ”I grew up here. I grew up with all the teams, a big sports fan. Frankly, I never thought [a sports column] would even be a possibility. When it did happen, it was beyond surreal. I’m very much aware of what it means."
