Gannon misses Saturday advance work; Raiders don’t mind a bit

CBS broadcaster Rich Gannon didn’t make it to the Oakland Raiders training facility in Alameda, Cal., Saturday to do advance work for the Raiders-Denver Broncos game Sunday. The Raiders didn’t mind. Raiders Senior Executive John Herrera had made it clear the day befoe Gannon, a Raiders quarterback from 1999-2004, wasn’t welcome at the facility because of comments about the team. "The Raiders reluctantly agreed to let Gannon make an appearance because of league rules that permit broadcasters to do background work in advance of the game," Steve Corkran writes, but added that "Gannon, a noted stickler for detail, was unable to catch a flight to Oakland in time for the Saturday meeting with the Raiders. He relayed word to the Raiders that he was unable to make it in time." Corkran then quotes Herrera, "That was a win-win situation for us." Gannon worked the game, declining an interview request. || Raiders executive: Gannon like a dog. Story here. || NFL: Raiders can’t ban Gannon The Analyst from facility. Here
