ESPN to feature female athletes, filmmakers in sports documentary series

ESPN has taken its popular 30 for 30 series and put on a female story-telling spin for the upcoming Nine for IX sports documentary series. Richard Deitsch reports ESPN Films recently revealed the details and showed preview footage for the upcoming films, which subjects include longtime Tennessee basketball coach Pat Summitt, distance runner Mary Decker, tennis champ Venus Williams and basketball great Sheryl Swoopes. The series is set to debut in July.

  1. It will be great to see the Nine for IX series! I like the play on words in reference to the Title IX decision, and presenting it for the 40th anniversary.
