ESPN staffers believe Jay Mariotti unlikely to appear again on Around the Horn

"There isn’t much left to say about Jay Mariotti," The Big Lead writes, adding, "Dan LeBatard covered just about everything. But just for kicks, we polled 10 ESPN staffers today, and nine of them think Mariotti will never appear on Around the Horn ever again (one staffer, taking the contrarian outlook, thinks if Mariotti isn’t found guilty of any wrongdoing – court date: Sept. 17 – ESPN will give him a second chance). This seems to be the general consensus among those who write about ESPN regularly. At some point, the discussion will turn to “who replaces Mariotti on ATH” but with the show off this week, that can wait. Two years ago this month, Mariotti left the Sun-Times in a huff following a trip to the Olympics. By next month, he could lose his handsomely paying ESPN TV job and his Fanhouse columnist gig. That’s a spectacularly swift fall."
